b2b research - the Northern perspective

Thursday 30th September 2010

Acumen Research, 3 Canal Street, The Village, Manchester M1 3HE

The ICG has close ties with the Business Intelligence Group (BIG). They are hosting their first North West meeting on Thursday 30th September, meet 6pm for 6.30pm start. All ICG members are very welcome. There is no charge for this meeting.

BIG is pleased to announce the first Forum meeting to be held outside of London. We are grateful to Acumen for hosting the first BIG Forum North, to be held in Manchester on 30th September.

The meeting will take the form of a Question Time type panel discussion to be chaired by BIG’s Chairman Trevor Wilkinson and involving three eminent B2B researchers based in the North:

Abi Fuller of Acumen; Nick Hague of B2B International; Ray Poynter of the Future Place

Our panel will be discussing key issues in our industry, including the effect of the recession, future prospects for the industry, whether B2B research is truly a specialism and the techniques being used in B2B research. In particular we will be discussing the perspective of B2B researchers based in the Midlands and North. We are keen for the meeting to be interactive and will encourage questions from the audience. The meeting is also a great opportunity to network with friends and colleagues in the B2B research industry.

Join us at 6.00pm for drinks and nibbles in advance of a 6.30pm start.

BIG Forum is part of the Business Intelligence Group (BIG) and exists to provide business-to-business researchers with an opportunity to meet and exchange views with their colleagues in an informal setting. Events include presentations by a variety of speakers, and represent a chance to ‘network’ with your friends and colleagues while catching up on the latest thinking in business-to-business research. BIG members enjoy free admission to evening meetings. Non-members are welcome for a small fee of £5 (Free for ICG members on this occasion). For our normal evening meetings, there is no need to pre-book. Just turn up on the night and feel free to bring a colleague (or two).

If you have any questions about BIG Forum, or BIG more generally, please contact the meeting organiser Trevor Wilkinson on +44 (20) 8538 0133, email trevor@purplemr.co.uk, or look at our website www.b2bresearch.org for further details on our programme.

ICG Training morning - Boosting Personal Productivity

Wednesday 12th May 2010

Grosvenor Hotel, 101 Buckingham Place Road (next to Victoria Stn), London SW1

There are lots of rewards and challenges for the self-employed, but they can't be overcome without energy; and nothing saps our energy like stress.

So in this 3 hour training session we're going to the heart of the matter, with three top class life coaches giving us practical techniques to help raise our energy levels and handle stress and relationships.

Hear from David Buswell, Bill Ford and Dawn Goldsmith in this interactive and informal 3-hour session. Networking over a pub lunch to follow (optional/extra cost).

David Buswell will be helping us to recognise and overcome stress, leading us through two simple relaxation techniques. He will give you some tips on how to say 'No' – and mean it!

Bill Ford is a former market researcher and marketing director and the author of ‘High Energy Habits – the busy person’s guide to more energy without diets or exercise’. He will help us identify what is draining energy and what to do about it and what is raising our energy.

Dawn Goldsmith, an experienced business coach, will run an interactive session on building relationships with clients and suppliers. Dawn's background is in TV and journalism, as a former business producer for the BBC and CNN, producing the business news on BBC1’s Breakfast programme for seven years and CNN’s Business International and Asian Business News.

Date: Wednesday 12th May. Time: 9.30 to 12.30 Venue: Bessborough Room, Grosvenor Hotel, 101 Buckingham Palace Road, SW1W 0SJ

We're keeping the cost low, £40, making it exceptional value for money. If you would like to come please book a place with me and bring a cheque for £40 on the day.
