Research Idol helped showcase the creative talent we have within the industry. It displayed what makes a good researcher – Thinking on your feet, communication skills, making things simple for clients/ consumers, empathy, listening skills, a thick skin and knowledge….In addition it showed that MR can be such fun.

As a result of charging 1 minute for any calls lasting less than one minute, my mobile phone bill went up 350%. Three minutes and ten seconds of 'calls' were charged as if they were 51 minutes. Has this happened to you? If so, can we start a campaign to get all mobile operators to charge by the second, as they used to?

At the Echo Research 20th anniversary summit last week, Echo's CEO, Sandra McLeod, noted that there are three key brands – the consumer or customer brand, the employer brand and the citizen brand – and that they are increasingly coming together. But this does not feed through to the kinds of research we are asked to do. Why not?
